The first Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was a cool quarter of a thousand when it came through the auction at Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas over the weekend.
The most powerful version of the Chevy muscle car ever built will arrive in showrooms early next year to a decidedly more affordable price - expected to about $ 50,000. However, retail Camaro ZL1 very collectible first offered by a seller in the city of sin, was to raise funds for the YMCA of Southern Nevada.
Interestingly, it was another dealer who stake of the winning bid. Rick Hendricks, Hendricks Motorsports owner and president of Hendricks Automotive Group, took the hammer at $ 250,000. You will have to pony up the money now even though it's only going to take delivery of its new Chevy Camaro ZL1 sometime during the first quarter of 2012.
The waiting time should be interesting given the ZL1 Hendricks is the only product with a flash of carbon steel. This will be separated ZL1 69 factories in Oshawa, in honor of the legendary 1969 Camaro ZL1, which were produced only 69th.
The ZL1 is the long awaited answer to the likes of Chevy Mustang Shelby GT. The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 62-liter. supercharged V-8 will be an awesome 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft. of torque. This is, incidentally, 24 hp more than the same LSA V-8 under the hood makes the Cadillac CTS-V due to improvements in the compressor intake system and intercooler.
Hendricks The car ride home comes with a manual gearbox six speeds, although the ZL1 also be offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
"Our family has been involved with the YMCA for above 25 years," told Greg Heinrich, president of Fairway Chevrolet, explaining the decision to Las Vegas to retailers to place the ZL1 one of its kind in the auction.
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 The original 69 clones once for a total of $ 7,200 - about $ 45,000 adjusted for inflation today. However, one of those rarities sent a record $ 840,000 bid once it was auctioned in 2005. Therefore, Hendricks may have a steal after all.
